Easter in Philippines: Family Photos Fill Church Pews

by STL.Newspublished on April 13, 2020
In an empty church north of Manila, Philippines, family photos take the place of people in the church pews on Easter Sunday. Churches across the overwhelmingly Catholic nation are closed due to the coronavirus, but some have done their best to adapt to the lockdown. The Holy Rosary Parish church in Angeles City had worshippers email photos of their families, more than 1,000 of which have been pasted to pews for Easter. Christians around the world are celebrating Easter Sunday at home instead of going to church, many are participating in virtual observances of one of Christianity’s holiest of days as much of the world has been ordered to stay indoors to curb the tide of the virus. The Philippines recorded 50 coronavirus deaths on Sunday, its highest in a single day, bringing the death toll to 297 with a total number of infections to 4,648. https://www.voanews.com/science-healt…
